Leadership

The Bible provides a clear model of local church leadership. Men may serve as elders or deacons in these biblically based offices at Grace Church. We function with a plurality of elders, with qualified men leading the church in unanimity. We make no distinction between elders who make their living through the church and those who earn their income elsewhere.

We continually have men in elder and deacon training who, once they are ordained to serve in these capacities, may serve as long as they remain qualified. We use the qualifications of I Timothy 3 and Titus 1 as our guidelines in appointing elders and deacons.

The elders are responsible for the philosophy and oversight of ministries of the church. Deacons are responsible for the maintenance of our facility, as well as serving in other ministry areas. Teams are established to carry out ministries and give input to the elders for final decisions. Each elder has responsibilities over specific ministries, and each ministry has a team leader(s) who serves, with others to fulfill the duties of that ministry.

Our deacons assist the elders in many tasks and are invaluable to the life of the church. Assisting the deacons are stewards, who take responsibility for tasks within the church. Many other godly men and women serve in a variety of ministry activities.

Our ministry team leaders are essential for our ministries to function. Without their service, Grace Church could not carry out many of the tasks that are necessary to serve this local body and community. Team leaders are expected to be a biblical example to those that they serve, in both their public and personal lives. The leadership of Grace Church appoints all team leaders.
